SAN MATEO TOGETHER ORGANIZES TO SECURE
THE FUTURE ECONOMIC VIABILITY OF THE CITY

September 12, 2005

Concerned San Mateo residents today announced the formation of
San Mateo Together, a community-based, grass roots organization dedicated to representing
the diverse population and neighborhoods of San Mateo.

" San Mateo Together is dedicated to securing the future economic health and viability of the
City of San Mateo, while maintaining and improving the quality of life for all our residents, "
said Rich Hedges, co-chair of San Mateo Together.  " We stand together for economic vitality,
environmentally sustainable buildings, pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods, transit-oriented
building, affordable housing, accessible city parks and traffic flow and congestion relief
improvements, as well as community consensus. "

San Mateo Together Co-chair Linda Jansen explained, " Our mission is to strengthen the unique
character of our town while planning sensibly for future generations. San Mateo Together
believes that the Bay Meadows Phase II Plan is consistent with our community goals. We will
bring our diverse community together and provide every effort to ensure that our goals are
fully integrated into the Development Plan for Bay Meadows Phase II. "

Serving as co-chairs of San Mateo Together are Linda Jansen, Lisa Smoot and Rich Hedges.
Committee members are residents and business owners including San Mateo County
Supervisor Jerry Hill, Linda Asbury, Rick Bonilla, Mike Borstel, Charlie Clouse, Bobbi Decker,
Garrett Dunwoody, Ruth Hahn, Steve Frederick, Henry Friedlander, Linda Hedges, Anne Kenney,
Gene Klein, George Mozingo, Bill Nack, Dave Pine, Rafael Reyes, Rick Sakuda, Geri Sullivan
and Brian Sullivan.
